Kindness in Bloom: How Florists Can Spread Joy with The Marmalade Trust from 15th - 21st June 2026

As florists, we have a unique gift: we work with a medium that instantly brightens someone's day, sparks conversation, and brings beauty into the world. We know firsthand the pure joy that receiving flowers can bring. Now, there is a wonderful opportunity to channel that magic into a powerful movement of community connection.

We are incredibly excited to share a beautiful initiative, The Connection Bouquet Project, inviting florists across Ireland and the UK to create small bouquets and leave them in their local areas for lucky passersby to find, enjoy, and pass on.

This simple gesture can make a world of difference. By participating, you are not just sharing your skills you are also helping to raise awareness for the vital work of The Marmalade Trust, a charity dedicated to combating loneliness and building companionship.

If you are ready to get involved, here is a guide on how you can support this initiative and bloom some smiles in your neighborhood. or check out their website here Home | Loneliness Awareness Week

Create Your "Lonely Bouquets"

You don’t need to create massive, expensive arrangements to make an impact. The goal is to create small, charming surprise bouquets.

  • Use Leftover Stems: This is a perfect way to utilize beautiful, leftover stems from your weekly events or daily shop inventory that might otherwise go to waste.

  • Keep it Sustainable: Wrap them in simple, recyclable brown paper or tie them with twine so they are easy for someone to pick up and carry home.

Add a Message of Kindness

Because these bouquets are left in public spaces, it is important to let people know they are free to take! Attach a small, clear tag or card to the bouquet. Your note could say something like: See tags below that can be downloaded.

"Take me, enjoy me, or pass me on! This little bouquet is a gift to brighten your day and support the vital work of The Marmalade Trust."

This reassures passersby that the flowers are a intentional gift meant to be found and shared.

Choose the Perfect Local Spots

Think about places in your community where a pop of color would be most appreciated or where people gather. Look for spots like:

  • Park benches

  • Local community center steps

  • Near bus stops or train stations

  • Outside libraries or cafes

Make sure to place them safely where they won't get stepped on but are easily visible to someone walking by.

Encourage Community Connection

The magic of this initiative lies in the ripple effect. When someone finds a bouquet, it encourages them to connect with others, whether they keep it to brighten their own home, give it to a lonely neighbor, or post about it online.

  • Include a Call to Action: On your bouquet tag, ask the finder to share a photo on social media.

  • Promote the Cause: Remind them to use hashtags like #LonelinessAwarenessWeek and tag your shop alongside #MarmaladeTrust so the community can follow the journey of each bouquet.

Share the Journey Online

Before you send your bouquets out into the world, take photos and videos of the process. Share a behind the scenes look at your team creating them, and document where you drop them off.

Post a message on your social media channels to let your followers know why you are participating. You can use a message like this to rally support:
