Florist Fun in The Hague: Our World Cup Floral Art 2025 Adventure!
What an incredible few days! We've just returned from The Hague, Netherlands, where we had the absolute joy of attending the World Cup Floral Art 2025. This event is a pinnacle in our industry, and it was so much more than a competition; it was a festival of creativity, friendship, and pure floral passion.
It was amazing to connect with so many familiar faces and kindred spirits. We had the chance to catch up with our dear "flowery friends," including past trainees from Kay's Flower School who are now flourishing in their own careers. It was also brilliant to meet with our phenomenal flower reps and wholesalers who give us such incredible support year-round. We even got to thank the industry professionals who provided so much encouragement for our own Florist of the Year competition. The sense of community was palpable, with so many old and new faces, all united by our love for flowers.
The true stars of the show were, of course, the competitors. These creative minds designed works of art that were simply breathtaking. The skill, vision, and technical precision on display were phenomenal. Watching them transform a bundle of blooms into a masterpiece was a masterclass in itself.
One of the most memorable moments was our adventure cheering on the American team. When we heard that our dear friend Joe Massie had to pull out at the last minute due to health reasons (we wish him a speedy recovery!), we were instantly adopted as honorary Americans by our fabulous friends Sarah Campbell and Shelley Pearson. We had the honor of sitting in the crowd and cheering on Jenny Ingrum as she battled for a place in the top ten. Although she didn’t make the final cut, Jenny was so gracious in defeat, celebrating her fellow competitors with a smile. It truly embodied the supportive spirit of this community.
After a fierce battle, the final award went to Tomasz 'Max' Kuczyński from Poland, who was crowned the World Cup Florist of the Year 2025! The victory was well-deserved, and it was inspiring to see such incredible talent take the top prize.
Beyond the competition, we were honored to have a lovely drinks reception with the team from Oasis. It was a true highlight to meet Robin Kilbride, the owner and managing director of the whole Oasis group. We were humbled and delighted when she knew exactly who we were and expressed her gratitude for the support we've given them over the years. We were also thrilled to hear about the new Oasis Renewal™ foam, which is ready to go as of now! The product is made from plant-based, renewable materials and is a real game-changer. The reception was the perfect opportunity to network and meet new florists for the first time, all of whom were beyond friendly. The love and support we experienced were truly super.
